SUPREME SACRIFICE & OTHER POEMS IN TIME OF WAR.

Scarce WWI book of poems by John S. Arkwright.
With illustrations by Bruce Bairnsfather, Wilmot Lunt, Louis Raemaekers, L. Raven-Hill

The majority of these poems were first written and published during the Great War, and especially in its concluding stages.

They were reprinted here in 1919 in order of their date, as far as this was possible. In this way they form a loosely connected series which may depict the successive emotions felt by the Nation at home during the progress of the struggle.

The poet has included all that he wrote on the theme of personal loss and sorrow, in the hope that a passage here and there may accomplish some of the purpose for which it was written. In this connection, the poem The Last Muster dating from the time of the South African War was added at the request of a friend.

Published by Skeffington & Son, Ltd., London. 1919.
