BRAUN, Otto. Vogelstein, Julie (edits).
The Diary of Otto Braun - with selections from his letters and poems.

Heinemann, London. 1924 First U.K. edition. pp xxxii, 363. Fifteen-page Introduction by Havelock Ellis. Translated by Ella Winter (the poetry being translated by F.W. Stella Browne). Otto Braun was the son of the German feminist and socialist Lily Braun. He died on the Somme in 1918. The frontispiece shows the author at the age of 18 -

He served in the Prussian army throughout the war until he was killed. He had come from a very left wing backfround and he was thought to be headed for great things.
He was something of a child prodigy who promised to be a great writer but he was killed at the age of 20 before he had published a word. `
