A bush pilot before the war he entered as a private and left as a lt col. He was a squadron commander of a fighter squadron during the war and worked as a real estate agent after.

First edition; stated first printing. Hardcover, 90 pp, illustrated with black and white drawings. Near fine in good+ dustjacket. Dustjacket has a 1/2 x 1 inch chip off lower edge of spine portion, three approximately 1 inch tears, several lesser nicks and chips, foxed. Book itself has some faint mottling on cloth, corresponding to the foxing on the dustjacket, string mark on top edge of rear board, some light tanning and foxing on endpapers, otherwise tight, clean, paper crisp, unmarked and apparently never read. Poems by Air Force pilot, poet of the Poconos and host of a former radio show "The Poet and the Organ". Subjects include the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, including ones on the Delaware Water Gap, woods, fishing, etc., which paint nice vignettes of the still relatively unspoiled region before suburban sprawl, air combat during World War II, etc. Modern first; poetry; natural history.
