REQUIEM by Schönburg, Agatha [Princess Agatha of Schönburg Hartenstein]

Format: Softcover
Book condition: Very Good+ with no dust jacket

Self Published. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. 1967. Softcover. Gray stapled paper covers are sunned at extremities. . Agatha Schönburg was a Princess whose German royal ancestors can be traced back several centuries. She grew up in Castle Hartenstein, not far from the town of Zwickhau and the city of Dresden, fire-bombed to ruins as World War Two came to an end. Archduke Franz-Ferdinand, whose assassination in 1914 started World War One was a good friend of the family, and Princess Agatha once played and sang for Kaiser Wilhelm II. A photograph of the Princess at age 18 on her horse is tipped in. This Requiem is a prose piece that quotes the great German poet Rainier Maria Rilke extensively. It is a requiem for all those who died in World War Two, and most particularly all six of Princess Agatha's sons.
