Tex Wood was born in Galveston after the end of WW2. He grew up in Texas, the Carolinas and Texas. He received a B.A. from Duke University and a M.F.A. from UNC Greensboro. He is a MacDowell colony fellow. He is a U.S.M.C. Vietnam Veteran.
