"This poem was written dedicating our first "turn-to" with the enemy. May we have many successes such as that experienced on the evening of April 28, 1945. We have evolutionized ourselves from just an "AVP" to one of Uncle Sam's fighting ships and may the glory of it stay with us. White, EM1c, has been amateuring with stanzas and words since he can remember and the below is one example of something jotted out at the appropriate moment. -- Mason."
