"Here is a book of cerses for all ex-G.I.'s. Because it comprises the army experiences of the author, himself an enlisted man, it is written in true G.I. language. There are no phrases of exalted poetry here, but plenty of lines that will ring true to veterans of the last war, and many that will bring sympathetic smiles and knowing chuckles too.
Jim Nance served in the army both here and overseas, and in the course of that service encountered most of the experiences and shared most of the emotions of the average "dogface." Most of these verses were written in the army, and many were published in service publications for which the author was battalion correspondent.
For WWII veterans, a book like this will never be "dated." Regardless of assignment or branch of service, it was always "a dogface's life," and these rhymes celebrate that life with glee and gusto."
