Alfred Gotze (* May 17 1876 in Leipzig , † November 27th 1946 in Gießen ) was a German philologist and specialist in German . His research focused on the German word customer , the literature of the Reformation period and ethnographic issues (eg place names and special languages).He then taught at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg , in 1925 at the University of Giessen .
In the first years of National Socialism , he argued against an excessive purism by the often defended as excessive criticized foreign word usage of the Nazi regime: the foreign word use "our patriotic movement" should be exempted from the language purification, since it springs from "carefully considered statesmanlike intent." Together with his colleague Hans L. Stoltenberg Giessen he propagated the language purism, however, to level technical text and called for the enforcement of the use of "language consultants at every university."
In 1933 Alfred Götze joined the National Socialist Teachers' Association in 1937, he joined the Nazi party . Idol also had a supporting member of the SS [1] .
According to the report , Adolf Bach Idol hit a stroke when his institute library was removed in 1946 after the closure of the University of Giessen.
