Tipped in: letter: "at Pensione Fiorenza, Via del Presto di S. Martino, Florence - Italy. 26th. Sept. 1924. Montague Phillips Esq., Sir, I have been advised to write to you on the subject of Lyrics for song settings, as I am particularly interested in this branch of poetry. I am, therefore, asking you if you will be kind enough to look through the enclosed lyrics, and let me know if you are prepared to accept any, and, if so, what you can offer me for them, or what terms you would suggest. I may add that I am a keen lover of music, and am at present studying to be a singer, (my home being at Stratford-on-Avon) so I have a very fair idea of what is, and what is not, suitable for singing. I have also had a small volume of poems published, a copy of which I enclose for your perusal. I am very fond of your songs, especially 'Bluebells' and 'Were I a Moth', and should be very pleased to be able to supply you with original lyrics from time to time. Thanking you in anticipation, Yours faithfully, Ethel M. Ward."
