"Born in 1931, Robert Carl Williams spent his formative years on a small farm in East Tennessee, at the foothills of Appalachia. He received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee, trained as a jet fighter pilot toward the end of the Korean War, received a B.A. in architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and found the magic of Vermont in the early '60s where he made his home and now resides with his wife Annabelle." -- "About the Author", p.[61]

Many of these poems are inspired by the poet's reverence for the sea and sky and the changing seasons in the mountains of Vermont. His work draws heavily on his life's considerable experiences, both his early years on a farm and his observations of human frailty and renewal.
