About the Author, Dale E. Reich
Dale Reich was born and raised in the little community of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school in 1965, he began studying for a career in law at the University of Wisconsin. Two years later he volunteered for the draft and left for Vietnam in June 1968 to begin his one year tour of duty as an Army infantryman. He became a writer while in Vietnam and worked as the co-editor of the official newspaper of the 11th Infantry Brigade of the Americal Division. His articles eventually appeared in newspapers throughout Southeast Asia. He received both the Combat Infantry badge and the Army Commendation Medal for his service. Reich returned from the war to earn a bachelor's degree in Journalism and a combined master's degree in history and education. He has written five books and has won numerous awards for his articles, editorials, and photographs. Today, Reich teaches at Gateway Technical College in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and continues to work as a freelance writer and photographer.
