IT WAS THE BEST YEAR OF HIS LIFE ! AND THE WORST! Ten men from the little town of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, were killed in the Vietnam War. Dale Reich survived. He wants his hometown heroes, and the war that took them, to be remembered. This is the story of his year as an American infantryman in Vietnam-365 unforgettable days that took Reich thirty years to finally write about.

From the Foreword to Rockets Like Rain: "Dale Reich's ROCKETS LIKE RAIN takes the reader on a powerful adventure and lays bare the pain of having his naïveté and his idealism dragged through the mud of wartime reality. It's the story of how the veneer of civilization can be torn away by the need to survive, and by the absence of the rules and norms that ordinarily define a civilized people. It's my story as well as Dale Reich's story, and certainly the story of hundreds of thousands of other Vietnam veterans, too. If you want to have one book on your shelf that explains this complex and still misunderstood war, that book should be ROCKETS LIKE RAIN." - Bruce Kelley, Vietnam Vet, 1969-70

About the Author, Dale E. Reich
Dale Reich was born and raised in the little community of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school in 1965, he began studying for a career in law at the University of Wisconsin. Two years later he volunteered for the draft and left for Vietnam in June 1968 to begin his one year tour of duty as an Army infantryman. He became a writer while in Vietnam and worked as the co-editor of the official newspaper of the 11th Infantry Brigade of the Americal Division. His articles eventually appeared in newspapers throughout Southeast Asia. He received both the Combat Infantry badge and the Army Commendation Medal for his service. Reich returned from the war to earn a bachelor's degree in Journalism and a combined master's degree in history and education. He has written five books and has won numerous awards for his articles, editorials, and photographs. Today, Reich teaches at Gateway Technical College in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, and continues to work as a freelance writer and photographer.
