James Monahan (1912-1986 )
Studied at Christ Church, Oxford. Was on the sfaff of the Manchester Guadian before he joinged up. Attached to BBC German Service 1939-42. Served in Special Forces and No. 10 Commando 1942-45. Far from Land (1944) and After Battle (1948)

written in the last months of the war in France and the first few months of peace
