WALLER, John (Sir John Stanier), 1917-1995 : THE MERRY GHOSTS.

John Waller (Sir John Stanier Waller - 7th Baronet) was born 27 July 1917. Educated at Weymouth College and Worcester College, Oxford. Author, poet and journalist. Founder-Editor of magazine, Kingdom Come; first new literary magazine of war (1939-1941). Served with RASC in the Middle East (1941-1946) A founder-member of the Salamander Oasis Trust. Lecturer and tutor in English. Information Officer in various places abroad. Editor of anthologies and the autobiography of Keith Douglas.

FIRST edition. SIGNED, inscribed and corrected by the author. Octavo, grey cloth, no dust wrapper, slight foxing throughout. Inscribed by author: To Bruce Walker from John Waller. 9 May 1958. "Remember then all those who yesterday you loved." also correction to line 18 of "Curtain" to read But have left it too long; and entire innocence. the "have" has been inseted and underlined. Also correction to line 16 of "Meeting at Play" "garden" has been changed to "harden"; Crusade part III The Knight line 8 "Then" altered to "Than". Frontis. portrait, 53 pages.
