War Memories: A Book of Verse written in the camp's and in the field during the Great War
Book Description: Underhill & Co n.d. First Edition. A very good copy indeed in the original gilt stamped leather, spine ends light wear. A presentation copy, inscribed " To P.D. Wright, with authors compliments J. Lynch.". A scarce World War I collection of poetry $75

Frank Lynch had been born in Australia but moved with his family to Auckland from where he enlisted in 1914.

He served in Egypt, Gallipoli and in France and it is said that whenever there was clay about he would model the heads of his comrades-in-arms.
After the war he set up a studio in Ponsonby with Joseph, who was also an artist, and who later became a cartoonist on a Melbourne newspaper.

Devonport memorial

these is a bronze statue of the 'untidy soldier' which is to be found in Devonport (although a second casting was also used for the Masterton memorial). The sculptor was a returned soldier, Frank Lynch, who while serving at Gallipoli and France would model heads of his comrades in clay.
