Lake And War
Book Description: B.H. Blackwell 1917. 1st ed, very good indeed in original cloth backed grey boards, paper label chipped. $60

Arthur Shearly Cripps was a missionary and poet, born 1869 and who spent most of working life in Rhodesia. he is described on the title page as "sometime Naval and Military Chaplain", and so saw service, but whether in WW 1 or earlier i am unable to ascertain. the book is divided into sections, of whch the first "Lake Warfare" contains 21 poems, all war-related. there are numerous other war related poems throughout the balance of the book, and from internal evidence he would appear to have been in East Africa at the time.
