Notes
1333–52, English poet. He was the author of fervently patriotic war poems about Halidon Hill, the siege of Calais, and other battles. Probably a Yorkshireman, he may have been a soldier or a professional minstrel.

y a 14thC Yorkshire soldier-poet, probably a member of Edward III's court circle. Originally published by Ritson in 1795, under a slightly different title, following Tyrwhitt's discovery of the original manuscript.
