Notes
Okay, I know this is a real classic of Yiddish literature, but don't get too excited just yet -- unfortunately, I only have volume two to offer here, no sign of volume one. This one begins with the section entitled "Stalingrad."

Perets Markish, Milkhome New York: IKUF, 1956. 300 pages, an epic poem entirely in Yiddish, in good condition. Cover a bit faded and spine a little worn at the top, but binding strong with new endpapers, pages clean. Enjoy in good health!

Perets Davidovich Markish was born on December 7, 1895, in Polonnoe shtetl, Volynsk province, Ukraine, Russian Empire
At the beginning of the First World War he was drafted in the Tsar's Army and served in the front-lines against the German army. He was severely wounded in action and suffered from a contusion. He was decommissioned and settled in Yekaterinoslav.

Perets Markish was executed by the gunshot to his head on August 12, 1952, in Moscow, Soviet Union.
