BORN IN 1917 during the First World War, William Eastlake was old enough by the 1930s to experience the Great Depression and then to serve as a replacement infantryman in World War II. That war, and the following police actions and wars, served him as subject matter for two novels A collection of poems that reflect the radicalism and fervor of the sixties, though only one of the poems relate directly to the war in Vietnam.
