Canberra: Australian War Memorial, 1943. 20pp., foreword by General Blamey, Commander-in-Chief, Australian military forces, editorial notes. Illustratedendpapers, showing a kit of a general soldier, with the names of places fought by Australian soldiers above. Illustrated frontispiece, "Australian jungle fighters" by B3/59. Within the text there are 28 coloured illustrations, numerous black and white illustrations, halftone illustrations and red wash illustrations, along with black and white photographs. All illustrations within the book were done by serving military personnel. Green coloured boards with yellow decoration on front panel with green and yellow writing on the front panel and yellow on the spine. Plain text dustwrapper with khaki and green background with khaki and white writing on the front panel and white on the spine. Chipping to the bottom dustwrapper edge and there has been browning to the back panel and fold overs. Very large tear on the rear panel. "Khaki and Green' sums up in one telling phrase the scope of the activities of the Australian soldiers since last day related their experiences, in book form, to their homeland. It speaks of desert and jungle, epitomising the two major regions of the campaign in which Australians have participated since October, 1942 -- the overthrow of Rommel's forces at El Alamein, and smashing of the Japanese in Papua.
