Inside flap:
"Bugle Blast attempts to be a chronicle, in terms of the imagination, not simply of war but of men and women braving the conditions of war. And the conditions of peace we are now facing a world utterly weary yet still in ferment, demand craftsment who have the courage and fortitude to recreate those human values without which all postwar planning rings hollow. Our choice of SubLt Dalton as the author of the introduction to oour third series is deliberate; he represents those for whom Bugle Blast was founded, the writers who either find themsleves cut off from publishing by their immersion in the Services or whose work was begun under presennt day conditions, all needing our utmost encouragement. As for the more familiar names in this series, Woodraw Wyatt will be remembered for his story The Blackleg in the first series, walter andrewes for his poem Stranger in the Seocnd, whilst Michal James has the distinction of being the only writer to be making her third appearance Out Patients Only in the First Series was her first story to be published.
