"Okogbule Wondi was born on August 23rd 1936 at Diobu near Port Harcourt. He graduated from the University of Nigeria, where he became a lecturer in the Department of English.
He was the first published Ikwerre poet, despite being a college principal, lecturer, university administrator, company manager, newspaper publisher, mayor of Port Harcourt, president of a rotary club and a traditional ruler.
