Notes
Regenration, based on a true story is about a psychiatrist and three of his patients at a military hospital during the First World War. Dr. William Rivers (Jonathan Pryce), has begun to hover on the edge of a breakdown as a result of his close involvement with his patients: Siegfried Sassoon (James Wilby), a brilliant heroic soldier is sent to the asylum after publishing an outspoken and illegal anti-war pamphlet; Wilfred Owen (Stuart Bonce), whose support from Sassoon enabled him to write what is now regarded as the finest poetry to emerge from the First World War; and, Billy Prior (Jonny Lee Miller), an officer, who cracks under the terrible emotional pressure of war. While being reated at the hospital, Prior falls in love with a local girl (Tanya Allen) whose tenderness and passion put him on the road to recovery. Regeneration is an enthralling story about wr, suffering, class, snobbery, friendship, redemption and eventually regeneration.
