Inscribed to William Cary Sanger, Jr (the writer of the introduction) and signed from "Dick's Mother and Father" (the parents of Richard Mather Jopling).A collection of prose and verse written by Richard Mather Jopling during his years at school and college and before he was twenty three years old, when he sailed for France in September 1917, to serve in the Great War. His death was the result of shell-shock recieved on the last day of the war while removing sick and wounded from a bombed and burning hospital at Mezieres. Front hinge is just beginning to go. Minor wear to board edges and corners with a bump the bottom spine edge. Endpapers, outside page edges and tissue paper over frontispiece are aged spotted. Binding is good. Pages are unmarked.
