This volume of war poems, which is considerably more scarce than his 1916 "Ballads of Battle," is accompanied by 23 further delightful line drawings of scenes drawn from his Western Front service, including a sketch of Indian stretcher bearers bringing in a wounded man after the battle of Aubers Ridge on 9th May 1915. After service in the ranks of the 1/4th Black Watch in 1915, when his bn. was attached to the Indian Corps, Lee was commissioned in the KRRC & taken PoW at Cambrai in 1917.
