The fourth poetry collection published by Dylan Thomas in UK. Many of the poems in this collection – such as A Refusal to Mourn the Death, by Fire, of a Child in London and Ceremony After a Fire Raid – dealt with the effects of World War II, which had ended only a year earlier. It also marked the first appearance of his now much loved Fern Hill.

Dylan Thomas was a Welsh poet and writer, whose most famous works include the poems Do not go gentle into that good night, And death shall have no dominion and Fern Hill; the play for voices Under Milk Wood; and stories and radio broadcasts such as A Child's Christmas in Wales and Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog. He became widely popular in his lifetime and remained so after his premature death in 1953 in New York City, aged only 39. The centenary of his birth was recently celebrated
