Inserted: letter from editor of Scots Observer, dated 21st December, 1926 to R. B. Murdoch: "Dear Mr. Murdoch, I have now found the book of poems by Ian Hamilton which I return to you herewith with many thanks for perusal. I am delighted with them, especially the later ones. The poet and seer in Iam Hamilton seem to have developed since he passed sixty, a rather remarkable feature. His very language has improved in his later years. I think he is the most trenchant and most picturesque of all our public speakers. I don't know if I told you that I wrote to Ian Hamilton for an article, but he said he was too busy, and I can well believe it. I don't want to bring any special pressure on him, but if you happen to be writing him perhaps you will say a good word for our paper. We are now entered upon a new form, but we find that we have not any more space because the columns are narrower, and the print is bigger. It will mean that the paper will be more easily read by some of our older readers, some of whom would evidently like the whole paper to be printed in large long primer, which would certainlyu make our job a more easy one in one sense. With kind regards, Yours sincerely, [etc.]"; short obituary on Robert Barclay Murdoch, entitled "Brave and Blind"; and a letter to the editor by R. Barclay Murdoch, entitled "Murdock Letters", seeking material for a biography of William Murdoch or Murdock
