Gordon Longmead from Herts, England. Posted 16 Oct 2006.
i am the son of Charles William John Stephen Longmead from London. I knopw he was stationed at the various sites mentioned and possibly was associated with a few others during and immediately after the war. I am trying to find anyone who might have known him. He was a Transport fitter who might have been known as Charlie or John.

He arrived at Hillhead in November 1944 and was transferred to a camp just outside Lerwick in the shetlands in 1945.
He would have been at Methwold / Feltwell between 1942 and 1944 and at Biggen Hill during 1946 / 1947.
The reason is that i am currently writing his life story and would welcome information from those who knew him.
I am also looking for pictures of the camps at Lerwick, Hillhead and Rosehearty while they were operational or soon after they were abandoned to illustrate the book.
