Not dated but early 1920s. This poetry was written by an aircraft observer who was paralysed in an aircraft accident in the First World war, A number of these poems were published privately in 1920 . These were added to a few years later and published by Hodder and Stoughton.


. Howcroft was paralysed with a fractured spine after crash-landing over the Somme. He had joined the R.F.C. in 1915 and trained as an observer. His nurse acted as amanuensis for these poems, one or two of which have a bearing upon the war. See Reilly p.175.
