Sir John Randolph Leslie, 3rd Baronet, generally known as Shane Leslie, (24 September 1885 – 14 August 1971), an Irish-born diplomat and writer.[1] He was a first cousin of the British war time Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. In 1908, Leslie converted to Roman Catholicism and Home Rule Irish Nationalism.

During the war he was in a British Ambulance Corps, until invalided out;

Sir Shane's brother Norman, a captain in the Rifle Brigade, was killed in World War I. Leslie was attached to a British Ambulance Corps during the war until he became ill and was placed in a military hospital in Malta. Here he wrote his first major book, The End of a Chapter, and published it in 1916.
